Though everyone knows about advertising and its importance, as also its benefits in increasing the sales of any company, very few know about the advertising agency structure, except of course those who work in them or have close contact with them. These advertising companies are the backbone of many industrial giants as they keep on using these agencies to create new ad campaigns to remain in public memory and also to counter the campaigns of the competitors. For those of you who think that an ad agency is a group of individuals who are confined to making ads, here is how an advertising agency structure looks like.
There are broadly 6 departments in any ad agency, with each having its specific duties and responsibilities. These are account servicing, account planning, and media, creative, production and the finance and accounting department. All these departments work in close coordination to justify the advertising structure.
The account servicing department is the link between the agency and the customers. It is the backbone of the agency as it brings in new clients and helps in maintaining old ones. It looks after the PR work of the agency and is invaluable to the advertising agency structure.
Media department is also an important cog in the agency structure. It helps in keeping the ad agency in business and also in its expansion .It's main aim is to plan a strategy to be ahead of the competitors. Creative department is like the brain of the agency and THE most important department in the advertising agency structure. It is here that the most creative people sit and design the ads of the companies which are responsible for the campaigns of the clients. Once the creative team has decided on the idea and the concept, it is the production team that created the ad. This is the department that adds the touch of reality to the idea and concept by producing the ads. The stars and celebrities are given contracts and they are take for shoots where the ads are completed. This department actually makes the ads which the creative people make on tables. So, the importance of this department can never be overemphasized in any advertising agency structure. Thus it can be seen that advertising agency structure is more complex than it looks from outside and it is the coordinated effort of so many departments that makes an ad agency work successfully. |
